Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, announced that Tamannaah Bhatia, a popular film actress, will start her two-year term as the brand ambassador for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) on Tuesday. The iconic Mysuru Sandal Soap will also be reintroduced with a modernized appearance. KSDL aims to boost its annual turnover to Rs 5,000 crore by 2030 through a targeted promotional campaign, especially focusing on engaging the youth.
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, known for her wide social media following and star power, will play a crucial role in promoting KSDL products, including the renowned Mysuru Sandal Soap, particularly in North India. The organization, with a rich history of over a century, has been experiencing high production levels and profits across its soap, detergent, and cosmetics divisions.
KSDL currently offers 57 premium products, ranging from Mysuru Sandal Soap to packaged drinking water. During her two-year tenure starting February 10, 2026, Tamannaah Bhatia will feature in various advertisements and promotional activities for KSDL products. The company also plans to expand its production units in Vijayapura and Dabaspete industrial areas to enhance its export turnover, which is currently around Rs 25–30 crore.
KSDL Chairman C.S. Appaji Nadagouda highlighted that the organization is maximizing production using existing machinery through a strict three-shift work system. Efforts are underway to explore markets in Europe and West Asia, aiming to reach non-resident Kannadigas. KSDL’s Managing Director, Prashanth, mentioned the successful prevention of counterfeit Mysuru Sandal Soap and emphasized the focus on expanding markets beyond South India, particularly targeting Delhi and Central India.
