Voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections started with delays due to technical issues in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at various polling stations. Election officials promptly addressed these problems to ensure a smooth voting process. Despite the initial setbacks, voters showed strong enthusiasm by queuing up in large numbers across the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged citizens to actively participate in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling their democratic duty. He specifically called on women and first-time voters to contribute to a high voter turnout.
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his family cast their votes in Salem, while Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru faced a temporary halt in voting at a polling station in Tiruchy due to a VVPAT malfunction. Notably, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman, BJP state vice-president Khushbu Sundar, and actor-filmmaker Sundar C. also exercised their voting rights.
Popular actor Ajith Kumar was among the early voters, entering the polling booth early due to security reasons. Dressed in a white coat suit, Ajith proudly displayed his inked finger to his fans waiting outside. Security was tight as police managed the crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor.
Authorities assured voters of a fair and free polling process in Tamil Nadu, with ongoing efforts to address technical issues and maintain a steady voting flow throughout the day.
