Baranica Elangovan from Tamil Nadu achieved a new national record in women’s pole vault by clearing 4.23m at the Bhubaneswar Indoor Stadium. This marks her second record-breaking performance in just over a month, surpassing her previous record of 4.22m set in late March at the same venue. Baranica expressed her satisfaction with her consistent progress in recent weeks, making Bhubaneswar her training base.
In the men’s heptathlon, Thowfeeq N of NCOE Trivandrum secured the gold medal with a total of 5,350 points, maintaining his lead from Day One. Usaid Khan from the Army claimed second place with 5,288 points, while Jashbir Nayak from Odisha finished third with 5,250 points. Tamil Nadu’s Kirthik Vasan S clinched the men’s U20 heptathlon title with 4,609 points.
Odisha’s Purnima Hembram emerged as the winner in the women’s pentathlon with 3,835 points, followed by Isha Chandra Prakash from Uttarakhand and Bidisha Kundu from West Bengal in second and third place respectively. Jaskiran Kaur from Uttarakhand secured the top spot in the women’s U20 pentathlon with 3,272 points.
In the women’s pole vault event, Nitika from Madhya Pradesh and Blessy Kunjumon from Kerala shared the second position by clearing 3.90m each.
