Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran has intensified criticism against the ruling TVK-led coalition government. He demanded the government to publish a white paper on the current law and order situation, citing a surge in serious crimes. Nagendran accused Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of inaction towards complaints involving ruling alliance members.
During a meeting with Governor-in-charge Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Nagendran highlighted serious administrative and governance issues. The BJP submitted memoranda seeking the Governor’s intervention. One memorandum raised concerns about private individuals attending a state Cabinet meeting, while another objected to Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan’s conduct at a recent public event.
Comparing the current government with the previous DMK administration, Nagendran alleged no improvement in the law-and-order scenario. He pointed out a significant increase in sexual assault cases, murders, and narcotics trafficking incidents within the 54 days since the TVK government took office. Nagendran emphasized the need for transparency by the administration in addressing these issues.
Nagendran urged the government to issue a detailed white paper outlining the state’s law-and-order status, major crimes reported, and police actions taken. He stressed the importance of transparency in public safety matters, similar to white papers published on other subjects. Additionally, Nagendran made fresh allegations against Cabinet members, particularly criticizing Energy Resources and Law Minister R. Nirmalkumar over advocate appointments and remarks on a court order related to the Tirupparankundram Deepam issue.
