Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad commended the Union Budget 2026-27, hailing it as a testament to India’s significant economic progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He highlighted India’s shift from being part of the “Fragile Five” in 2013 to now being among the top five global economies. Prasad specifically mentioned Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget theme of ‘From Fragile Five to Top Five’.
Prasad referenced the IMF’s projections indicating India’s nominal GDP reaching approximately $4.51 trillion by 2026, positioning the country as the fourth-largest economy worldwide. He credited this growth to a decade of transformative reforms initiated by the Modi government, such as GST, Make in India, and Digital India, which have bolstered economic foundations and enhanced resilience.
The BJP leader highlighted key aspects of the budget, emphasizing the Modi Model’s focus on fostering growth without burdening citizens with new taxes, while ensuring fiscal discipline. The budget allocates a record Rs 12.2 lakh crore for capital expenditure to boost infrastructure, manufacturing, and employment opportunities, alongside a reduced fiscal deficit of 4.3% of GDP.
Prasad also underscored the budget’s emphasis on empowering youth and the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, with targeted support for sectors like semiconductors, green energy, and advanced manufacturing. The continued support for MSMEs, energy security, and sustainable urban development reflects a commitment to inclusive and balanced growth.
