Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran criticized Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for allegedly failing to fill numerous government job vacancies while selectively announcing limited job opportunities. Nagenthran accused the government of neglecting the aspirations of many educated unemployed youth by delaying key government service recruitments despite available vacant positions.
He highlighted the government’s announcement of jobs for families affected by deaths during Vijay’s election campaign meeting in Karur last year. Nagenthran questioned the adequacy of these selective appointments in compensating for the lack of widespread recruitment throughout the state. The BJP leader emphasized the need to address the employment requirements of deserving young individuals striving for government jobs.
Nagenthran pointed out vacancies in various sectors such as higher education, school education, healthcare, and public utilities. He mentioned the shortage of principals in nearly 125 out of 181 government Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu and the significant number of unfilled Assistant Professor positions. Additionally, he highlighted the vacancies in professor roles in major universities like the University of Madras and Madurai Kamaraj University.
The BJP leader also raised concerns about the unoccupied intermediate teacher positions and other teaching roles in government schools. He noted the demands for permanent appointments from over 7,000 government nurses and highlighted vacancies in sectors like the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Nagenthran emphasized the need for merit-based recruitment in various job categories.
He criticized the government for announcing only 26 vacancies for this year’s TNPSC Group-I examination despite the substantial number of unfilled positions in different departments. Nagenthran questioned the absence of a department-wise recruitment schedule despite numerous candidates qualifying in exams like the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) and Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) examinations. Urging the Chief Minister to expedite recruitment processes, he called for the immediate filling of vacancies to ensure deserving candidates receive government appointments promptly.
