Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, criticized the BJP-led Union government for withholding funds and infringing on the State’s rights during a campaign rally in Gobichettipalayam. He accused the Centre of not releasing around ₹3,000 crore allocated for education in Tamil Nadu, labeling it as a violation of the state’s rights.
Udhayanidhi highlighted the Centre’s proposed delimitation exercise and commended Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for being the first leader to strongly oppose it. He emphasized the need for continued welfare measures and vowed to expand initiatives if the DMK is re-elected to power.
Promising to enhance existing schemes, Udhayanidhi announced plans to double the financial assistance under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme for women from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. He also pledged to extend the State’s breakfast scheme for government school students up to Class VIII and provide free laptops to over 35 lakh college students if the DMK returns to office.
Accusing the BJP and AIADMK of hindering welfare programs through legal challenges, the Deputy Chief Minister affirmed the DMK’s commitment to pro-people initiatives, despite opposition efforts.
