The Tamil Nadu Q Branch Police detained three Bangladeshi individuals who were found residing and working unlawfully at a scrap yard near Guduvancheri in Chengalpattu district. Acting on a tip-off, a special police team conducted an inspection at the premises where these individuals were employed. During the inquiry, it was revealed that the arrested men, identified as Zakir Bakkir (26), Abdul Salam Sitheri (28), and Arif Sitheri (25), lacked valid travel documents to justify their presence in India.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the trio illegally crossed the India-Bangladesh border a few months ago and made their way to Chennai in search of work. They allegedly found employment at the scrap yard in Kannivakkam after arriving in the Chennai suburban area. The Q Branch has filed a case against them for illegal entry and unauthorized stay in India, and the men are currently under interrogation to ascertain their entry route and potential involvement of any organized network in facilitating their stay.
The police are now broadening the investigation to identify any accomplices who may have aided the trio in securing employment or accommodation post their arrival. Surveillance measures are being intensified in Chennai’s suburban regions to detect other foreign nationals engaged in illegal activities under the guise of migrant laborers.
