The School Education Department in Tamil Nadu has instructed District Collectors to set up district-level control rooms by June 5. This initiative aims to help all eligible Class 12 students secure admission to higher education or technical institutions. Around 5.44 lakh students, including those from government and government-aided institutions, will be covered under this program.
Principal Secretary of School Education B. Chandra Mohan has directed that these control rooms, led by Deputy Collectors, track students post higher secondary education. Using data from the Educational Management Information System (EMIS), officials will identify students facing obstacles in pursuing further studies.
District-level teams, comprising members from various departments, will offer counseling, guidance on admissions, and assistance in obtaining necessary certificates. Special focus will be on vulnerable groups like Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students, those with disabilities, and candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds.
To enhance monitoring, a state-level control room will oversee admissions, monitor seat vacancies, and guide district authorities. District collectors will conduct student grievance redressal meetings fortnightly to address admission-related issues promptly. Weekly progress reports will be submitted to the state-level control room for continuous monitoring of enrollment levels.
