Tamil Nadu is set to see a gradual increase in summer heat as the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai predicts a rise of up to 3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures in various parts of the state starting Thursday.
The Chennai Meteorological Department forecasts dry weather for most areas of Tamil Nadu in the upcoming days, with temperatures expected to climb until March 14. Several districts may experience a rise of about 3 degrees Celsius above normal levels, indicating the onset of the summer season.
Meteorologists attribute this weather pattern to an atmospheric circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal, which, though not likely to cause widespread rainfall, may affect local weather conditions in certain regions. Light rainfall is anticipated on March 16 in isolated places, including the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts, with a chance of brief showers in southern Tamil Nadu.
Despite the chance of scattered showers in some areas, Tamil Nadu is expected to have predominantly dry weather in the near future. With clear skies and increasing solar radiation, daytime temperatures are projected to increase steadily in many interior districts, while Chennai is expected to have partly cloudy skies with a maximum temperature around 34 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials advise residents to prepare for rising summer conditions, especially during peak afternoon temperatures. Although severe heatwave conditions are not currently predicted, authorities are monitoring temperature trends across the state closely. As summer approaches, temperature fluctuations and occasional localized showers are expected in the coming weeks as atmospheric systems evolve over the Bay of Bengal.
