The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu, preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections, expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of alliance partners. Senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan hinted at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for hindering alliance talks by exerting influence from the Centre. Sengottaiyan highlighted that discussions on alliances were disrupted whenever they commenced due to external interference.
In response to queries about the possibility of O Panneerselvam joining TVK after being expelled from AIADMK, Sengottaiyan cautioned against speculating on such matters. He clarified that T.T.V. Dhinakaran, who joined the National Democratic Alliance, initially considered aligning with TVK but changed course due to political circumstances influenced by BJP pressures. Regarding rumors of discussions with PMK founder S. Ramadoss, Sengottaiyan cryptically remarked, “Let good things happen.”
Sengottaiyan also addressed criticism from actor-politician Vijay, stating that both DMK and AIADMK had deviated from the principles of C. N. Annadurai. He criticized AIADMK for neglecting the legacies of prominent leaders and accused the party of targeting TVK instead of exposing alleged wrongdoings by DMK. Sengottaiyan defended himself against corruption allegations, emphasizing that he had been cleared of all charges by the courts and warned of legal action against those who continued to make such accusations.
