Skipper Tanmay Agarwal’s impressive century propelled Karimnagar Diamonds into the playoffs with a convincing 73-run victory over Palamuru Strikers in the TG20 match in Hyderabad. Agarwal’s brilliant 109 off 58 balls, supported by Satwik Reddy (32 off 22) and Narayana Teja (23* off 8), helped Diamonds post 216/5. Shubham Sharma (3/16) and Rathlavath Dinesh (3/27) starred in the bowling department for Diamonds.
With this win, three teams have secured playoff spots in the TG20 tournament. Ranga Reddy Risers will need a remarkable performance to overtake Anurag Nalgonda Knights for the fourth spot. The fourth-placed team will face Diamonds in the Eliminator on Thursday at 2:15 PM, while Hyderabad E-Champions and Anvita Khammam Aces will clash in Qualifier 1 on the same day at 7:15 PM.
In the batting innings, Tanmay Agarwal and Satwik Reddy provided a solid start for Diamonds, scoring 66 runs in the Power-play. Despite a slight slowdown after the field restrictions were lifted, Diamonds maintained a healthy run rate. Agarwal’s second century of the season, featuring eleven fours and six sixes, was the highlight of the innings.
The Strikers faced a collapse in their chase, losing wickets in quick succession. Shubham Sharma and Rathlavath Dinesh played pivotal roles in restricting the Strikers. Samhith Reddy’s unbeaten 67 off 46 balls was the lone bright spot for the Strikers as they finished at 143/9.
