The teaser for the upcoming movie ‘The Silent Saviour: Governor’ featuring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role was revealed on Thursday. The film portrays Bajpayee’s character taking charge of the RBI during a national crisis to alleviate financial pressures. Inspired by true events, the movie sheds light on India’s severe economic downturn in the 1990s.
The storyline is based on India’s economic struggles during the 1990s when the country faced depleting foreign and gold reserves. The film highlights the economic reforms that opened India to global markets and investors, leading to significant improvements in the country’s financial landscape. ‘The Silent Saviour: Governor’ is a Sunshine Pictures presentation, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Chinmay Mandlekar.
The movie is said to draw inspiration from S. Venkitaramanan, the RBI Governor during India’s 1991 financial crisis. However, official confirmation is awaited regarding this claim. The film, scheduled for release on June 12, 2026, boasts a talented team including writers Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and producer Aashin A. Shah.
