Teenager Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive 58 off 19 balls propelled DY Patil Blue into the semi-finals of the 20th DY Patil T20 Cup. Suryavanshi’s aggressive innings, including four boundaries and six sixes, helped his team chase down Income Tax’s total of 211/6 with an over to spare.
Captain Shashank Singh’s unbeaten 53 off 32 balls further solidified DY Patil Blue’s victory. On the other hand, Income Tax’s Rahul Tewatia’s remarkable 83 off 35 balls, supported by eight boundaries and six sixes, was not enough to secure a win. Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed’s 2-36 bowling figures for Income Tax fell short in the face of DY Patil Blue’s strong performance.
In another quarter-final match at the DY Patil Stadium, Priyansh Arya’s impressive 76 off 29 balls, featuring 10 boundaries and five sixes, guided DY Patil Red to a 14-run victory over DTDC. Arya’s explosive batting helped DY Patil Red post a commanding total of 226/5 in 20 overs.
The semi-finals of the tournament, considered a warm-up for IPL 2026, are scheduled for Friday. DY Patil Red will play against Canara Bank at 11 am at the DY Patil Stadium, while Mumbai Customs will face DY Patil Blue at the DY Patil University Ground. The final match will take place at 6:30 pm at the DY Patil Stadium.
