A devastating fire in Kathautia village, Madhya Pradesh, claimed the life of a 19-year-old teenager named Amit Patel. The fire broke out in their modest mud house, leaving Amit’s mother, Geeta Patel, as the sole survivor of the tragic incident. The blaze, which started late at night, engulfed the house quickly, leading to Amit’s untimely death.

Raghvendra Tiwari, the investigation officer and Station House Officer of Kotwali police station, revealed that Amit had returned home around 11 p.m. that fateful night. Tragically, the fire erupted shortly after midnight, spreading rapidly through the flammable materials in the house. Despite efforts by firefighters and authorities, Amit could not be saved from the intense blaze.

Authorities suspect that the fire may have been caused by a candle or a traditional brazier (angithi) used for warmth due to the lack of electricity in the house. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, with forensic teams and local authorities examining the site for further insights. Meanwhile, the community has been urged to take precautions with open flames, especially during the cold winter nights.

The Naib Tehsildar of Shahdol’s Sohagpur tehsil promptly responded to the scene, organizing immediate relief efforts for Amit’s mother. Temporary shelter and food supplies have been arranged for her as she copes with the profound loss of her son. As investigations continue, police have registered a case, and updates on the case are awaited as more details emerge.
