In a key political move before the July 30 Bankipur Assembly by-election, Tej Pratap Yadav, National President of Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), has declared his party’s support for Jan Suraaj candidate Prashant Kishor. Tej Pratap Yadav stated that following internal discussions, the party unanimously opted to endorse Prashant Kishor for the by-election. He mentioned that he had conversed with Prashant Kishor, who emphasized the importance of preventing the BJP from winning the Bankipur seat.
Tej Pratap Yadav highlighted his agreement with Prashant Kishor’s stance and his backing for the ongoing student and youth protests, including those related to the alleged NEET paper leak. He criticized the Bihar government for its handling of examination irregularities, stating that despite repeated issues, no effective action had been taken. Tej Pratap Yadav also raised concerns about the state’s education and healthcare systems, advocating for significant improvements.
Referring to the public sentiment favoring political change in Bankipur, traditionally a BJP stronghold, Tej Pratap Yadav mentioned Veena Manvi, a Janshakti Janata Dal leader with substantial support among women voters. Despite initially nominating Veena Manvi as their candidate, the JJD decided to support Prashant Kishor after her nomination was rejected during scrutiny. This move adds a new dynamic to the upcoming Bankipur by-election, which has attracted significant political attention and active campaigning from various parties.
