Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the Indian Army to relocate its Southern Command headquarters from Pune to Hyderabad. This appeal was made during the Civil-Military Liaison Conference at the Integrated Command & Control Centre in Hyderabad. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Major General Ajay Mishra, DGP Shivadhar Reddy, and other senior officials from both the state government and the army.
Revanth Reddy, through the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), presented various requests on behalf of Telangana to the senior army officials at the gathering. Discussions primarily revolved around expediting the resolution of land disputes and other administrative issues between the army and the Telangana government. The Chief Minister specifically proposed relocating the Southern Command headquarters, which oversees several states and union territories, to Hyderabad.
Additionally, the Chief Minister advocated for the establishment of a Sainik School in Telangana. Highlighting the absence of any sanctioned Sainik School in the state for the past decade, he emphasized the need for such an institution. He assured the army officials of Telangana’s full cooperation in matters concerning national security and mentioned the allocation of 3,000 acres of land for the Low-Frequency Navy Radar Station in Vikarabad.
Revanth Reddy also urged the army to designate special officers to facilitate discussions and resolve issues between the army and the Telangana government. He stressed the importance of continuous dialogue in resolving problems effectively, underscoring the government’s commitment to cooperation with the army on security-related issues.
