Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, along with Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi to discuss a loan from the Indian Railway Finance Corporation for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. The Chief Minister’s Office stated that the discussions were positive. Following the meeting, the Chief Minister described the talks as constructive and announced plans to meet Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar for further discussions.
Revanth Reddy’s meeting with Ashwini Vaishnaw, in the presence of Kishan Reddy, occurred after the Chief Minister requested the prompt release of Rs 13,600 crore for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase I. He also sought clarity on the Centre’s involvement in Phase II of the project. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of Telangana receiving its rightful share of funds and highlighted issues regarding the transfer of a Rs 13,600 crore loan secured from a Japanese entity.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the delay in fund transfer was due to Kishan Reddy’s actions and questioned his commitment to releasing the funds. In response, Kishan Reddy denied the accusations, stating that the DPR for Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro project was not yet finalized. He criticized the Congress government’s approach to the project and emphasized the need for completing technical and financial feasibility reports.
