Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal in the national capital to seek approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project. The Chief Minister presented a detailed plan for Phase-II, encompassing 7 corridors, with a submitted Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Union Government.
Highlighting the rising demand for metro rail services, the Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to expedite approval for the joint venture project between the Union government and Telangana government. The proposed Phase-II spans 122.9 km across seven corridors, estimated at Rs 38,595 crore.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around the pending approvals for Metro Rail Phase-II and Phase-III. Emphasizing the necessity for expanding the metro rail network in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of safe public transportation and commuter convenience in the city’s growth.
The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister about the state government’s control over Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I and its impact on the seamless execution of Phase-II and Phase-III projects. He also requested the inclusion of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport–Bharat Future City corridor in Metro Rail Phase-III to meet future public transportation needs.
