Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer, C. Sudharsan Reddy, announced that 68.30% of the state’s mapping has been finished as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The assessment for Phase III of the SIR was conducted during a review meeting attended by senior officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), including Principal Secretary Avinash Kumar and Under Secretary Sanjay Kumar. Various officials, such as the Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and District Election Officer, Hyderabad’s Collector, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, were also present.
The CEO provided ECI officials with a detailed overview of the Assembly Constituencies, the manpower allocated for SIR, and the establishment of help desks. The ECI officials, in turn, presented a comprehensive outline of the Special Intensive Revision, highlighting the relevant legal provisions and the critical steps involved in the process. Emphasis was placed on the enumeration phase, draft publication of the electoral roll, handling of claims and objections, issuance of notices, and the final publication of the roll.
Officials stressed the importance of accuracy in filling out and collecting enumeration forms, urging the promotion of online form submission through the official portal voters.eci.gov.in and the “Book a Call” service for quick information on the SIR. District Election Officers were instructed to conduct regular all-party meetings and actively engage Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in the SIR process. Meanwhile, Telangana’s Chief Secretary, Ramakrishna Rao, instructed district Collectors to engage the public in the SIR process and raise awareness among them.
