The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) carried out ‘Operation Crackdown 2.0’ statewide to oversee previously arrested cyber offenders and prevent them from engaging in illegal activities again. This operation, in collaboration with law enforcement, was launched to monitor and deter repeat offenses.
During 2024–2025, a total of 3,567 cybercrime suspects were apprehended in Telangana, with 614 being residents of the state. Among these, individuals associated with significant financial cyber frauds and multiple criminal activities were selected for thorough verification.
TGCSB Director Shikha Goel mentioned that 335 individuals were verified, with connections to 480 cases in Telangana and 1,233 cases nationwide. Out of these, 218 have been located, some remaining in their original places of residence while others have moved for work purposes.
Efforts are ongoing to trace 115 individuals who are currently unaccounted for, while three persons are confirmed deceased. Notably, one of the accused, Prasad Kumar, is now residing in Nepal as revealed during the verification process.
In a coordinated effort, 300 teams from TGCSB and Law & Order Police Stations conducted field verifications simultaneously across various locations to track the present status and whereabouts of the accused individuals.
This initiative marks the first extensive post-arrest monitoring operation in cybercrimes by the Telangana Police, aimed at identifying repeat offenders and enhancing surveillance measures where necessary.
The operation focused on physical verification, intelligence gathering, network mapping, legal compliance, and deterrence to gather detailed data for analysis and strategic follow-up. Strict surveillance measures have been put in place for cases indicating potential repeat offenses or suspicious behavior.
Director Goel emphasized that this operation signifies a strong stance against repeat offenders, with a coordinated effort to verify individuals and share their criminal history with relevant police stations for effective monitoring and surveillance.
