The Telangana government has named B. Shivadhar Reddy, the outgoing Director General of Police, as the State Security Advisor (SSA). Reddy will provide counsel on police matters, law enforcement, internal security, crime control, narcotics, and road safety for a three-year term. He will hold the rank of Chief Secretary and receive a fixed monthly remuneration of Rs 2.25 lakh.
Shivadhar Reddy, who is retiring on April 30, will be succeeded by C.V. Anand as the new DGP. As per the Government Order, Reddy is entitled to official accommodation and either rent-free housing or a Rs 50,000 House Rent Allowance (HRA) in lieu of his own residence.
The State Security Advisor will be allocated a government vehicle and supported by an Officer on Special Duty (OSD), a private secretary, a personal assistant, two drivers, and four office subordinates. Additionally, the government has appointed senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao as an advisor for Backward Classes welfare and development, with the status of a state minister.
Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao issued a Government Order confirming Rao’s position, which will place him at Article 18 of the Warrant of Precedence. Hanumantha Rao, a former MP and prominent Congress figure, had vied for a Rajya Sabha seat but was not selected, with Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy being chosen instead.
