The Telangana government introduced a health scheme for its employees, pensioners, and their dependents. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha unveiled the New Employees Health Scheme, distributing health cards and launching the NEHS portal. This initiative aims to offer quality healthcare with cashless treatment at a wide network of hospitals, covering around 8 lakh government employees, pensioners, and nearly 29.80 lakh family members.
The scheme includes 1,816 medical treatments and surgeries, following CGHS package rates, and a Trust has been established for transparent operation. The government’s goal is to provide comprehensive medical services without financial burden, ensuring employees’ well-being. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s sub-committee, led by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, played a key role in shaping this scheme.
Bhatti Vikramarka criticized the previous government for neglecting employees, leaving bills unpaid. The current government is actively settling outstanding bills, releasing Rs 2,000 crore monthly. With a focus on education and healthcare, the state has increased the Rajiv Arogyasri coverage limit to Rs 10 lakh, benefiting over 1 crore families. Employees are encouraged to support government welfare programs and serve as conduits for public outreach.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Health Principal Secretary Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, and employee union leaders were present at the scheme’s launch event.
