A Telangana High Court advocate, Khaja Moizuddin, was fatally struck by a speeding SUV in Hyderabad’s Masab Tank area. The incident occurred as Moizuddin was entering his car near his home, with the SUV hitting him from behind and fleeing the scene, leaving him severely injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Moizuddin succumbed to his injuries.
The police initially considered the incident a hit-and-run but are now investigating it as a targeted murder following a complaint by the family and CCTV footage analysis. The case is suspected to be linked to disputes over Waqf land, with Moizuddin having been a senior advocate practicing for over three decades in the High Court and City Civil Court.
Authorities are looking into individuals associated with disputes over Waqf lands in Malakpet and other areas of Hyderabad. Moizuddin’s family has named two individuals connected to legal battles he was handling regarding alleged encroachments on Waqf land. The police have formed special teams to locate the SUV used in the crime and apprehend the suspects.
Moizuddin’s son, Farhan, also an advocate, revealed that his father had received threats from individuals involved in encroachments on Waqf lands and had been attacked multiple times before. The Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association has condemned the killing and urged law enforcement to swiftly track down and prosecute the culprits. Meanwhile, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has denounced the murder and called for the arrest of those responsible.
