The son of a Telangana Legislative Council member, along with two other individuals, was apprehended for allegedly using drugs. The incident occurred during a police raid in the Mangalhat area, where Bharat Raj Reddy, Abhishek, and Yunith were taken into custody. The raid was prompted by suspicions of drug purchase and consumption involving the group, leading to the seizure of 24 grams of hash oil and 22 grams of marijuana.
The three suspects were detained at the Mangalhat Police Station, where their blood samples were collected before being transferred to Osmania General Hospital for medical examination. While the police initiated a case and continued their investigation, four other individuals managed to evade capture. Authorities are currently searching for the absconding suspects – Soni, Vamsi, Manoj, and Tulija.
In response to the allegations, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC, P. Venkatram Reddy, refuted claims that his son was involved in drug consumption or had been arrested. Denouncing the reports as baseless, he clarified that the police had visited their residence for a drug-related inquiry but found no evidence of his son’s involvement. Venkatram Reddy emphasized that his son had not consumed drugs and was not arrested during the investigation.
The Mangalhat area has gained notoriety for illicit liquor and drug activities, prompting regular raids by enforcement agencies such as the EAGLE Force, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing, and local police units. The crackdown on such illegal practices remains ongoing in the region.
