Elections for seven Municipal Corporations and 116 municipalities in Telangana are set to take place on February 11, as announced by the State Election Commission. The schedule for these municipal elections was released by State Election Commissioner I. Rani Kumudini after a meeting with district Collectors and Superintendents of Police.
According to the schedule, the election notice will be issued on January 28, with ward-wise electoral rolls being displayed on the same day. January 30 marks the deadline for filing nominations, followed by scrutiny of nominations the next day.
State Election Commissioner mentioned that the list of validly nominated candidates will be published on January 31, with the option to file appeals against rejection of nominations on February 1. The deadline for withdrawal of candidatures is February 3, with polling scheduled for February 11.
A total of 52.43 lakh voters, including males, females, and others, are eligible to vote in these municipal elections. The urban local bodies consist of 2,996 wards, with 8,203 polling stations and 16,031 ballot boxes being set up for polling.
