Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended an official from the Lands and Surveys Department following searches at his locations that revealed assets exceeding Rs 13 crore, including Rs 1.54 crore in cash. The accused, Sunkari Narahari, Deputy Director of Lands and Surveys (Multi Zone-2), is alleged to have amassed assets beyond his legitimate income through corrupt means.
During the searches conducted at his residence and nine other places associated with him, officials discovered around Rs 1.54 crore in cash, Rs 2.29 crore in bank balances, Rs 5.04 crore in fixed deposits, 1.3 kg of gold ornaments, and 8 kg of silver. The investigation also uncovered documents related to various properties, including plots, agricultural land, residential flats, and buildings, with a total value of Rs 13,05,67,100.
The ACB disclosed that further verification of additional assets is ongoing, and the case remains under investigation. The accused officer is being presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Nampally, for judicial remand.
This development comes shortly after the ACB arrested Mohan Naik, Roads and Buildings (R&B) Engineer-in-Chief, in a separate disproportionate assets case. Searches conducted at Naik’s premises revealed assets valued at around Rs 17.95 crore, with an estimated market worth close to Rs 200 crore.
