Telangana Police have refused to grant permission for Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha’ scheduled for Telangana Formation Day in Hyderabad due to concerns over potential law-and-order issues. The Jana Sena Party, led by Pawan Kalyan, had requested to hold a meeting with an estimated 2,000 attendees at Sandhya Convention in Gachibowli on June 2 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serilingampally Zone, Cyberabad Commissionerate, stated that recent developments, including alleged remarks by Prof. K. Nageshwar and statements from political leaders, had heightened tensions in Telangana. These events had led to protests, counter-protests, and opposition from various groups, making it unsuitable to hold the meeting on the 12th Telangana Formation Day.
The police communication highlighted concerns about potential protests, disruptions to traffic, and the lack of adequate parking facilities at the proposed venue. Jana Sena expressed dissatisfaction with the reasons provided for denying permission, questioning the validity of the law-and-order concerns raised. The party criticized the government’s response, labeling it as hasty and based on vague justifications rather than genuine issues.
