The Telangana government plans to establish a Cabinet sub-committee to address the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Following a recent Cabinet meeting, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy disclosed that a decision on the case’s progression is pending.
It has been nine months since the state government requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the matter, yet no action has been taken. Minister Reddy hinted at potential reasons for the delay, emphasizing the need for further clarity on the situation.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Minister Reddy are set to personally engage with the CBI director to discuss the ongoing developments. The High Court’s stance on the matter, particularly concerning former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and ex-minister T. Harish Rao, remains a point of contention.
The High Court’s recent rulings have sparked discussions, with Minister Reddy highlighting the court’s position on the legality of the P. C. Ghose Commission’s investigation. Despite certain technicalities, the High Court’s directives have implications for the future course of action in the case.
