Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating an official from the state’s transport department for reportedly accumulating assets exceeding Rs 100 crore. Mood Kishan, the Deputy Transport Commissioner in Mahabubnagar district, is under scrutiny for possessing properties valued at Rs 12.72 crore on paper, but estimated to be worth over Rs 100 crore in reality.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Kishan owns 31 acres of agricultural land in Sangareddy district near Hyderabad, valued at over Rs 60 crore. ACB officials recently conducted searches at Kishan’s residence and 11 other locations associated with him, revealing various immovable and movable assets.
Among the assets uncovered were a 50% share in Lahari International Hotel, 3000 square yards of premium furniture showroom space, two flats in Ashoka Township, and 10 acres of commercial land in Nizamabad. Additionally, Kishan holds 31 acres of agricultural land, a polyhouse, a shed in a 4000 square feet area in Nizampet mandal, two vehicles (Innova Crysta and Honda City), 1000.4 grams of gold ornaments, and a bank balance of Rs 1.37 crore.
Investigators suspect that Kishan’s driver, Enugu Shivshankar, may have been acting as a front for him, with some properties registered under the driver’s name, including three cars. Following the searches, Shivshankar, who resided in a luxury house in Hyderabad’s Alwal area under the guise of a software professional, went missing. ACB officials are hopeful of uncovering more assets by questioning Shivashankar.
In a previous case, ACB had discovered assets worth Rs 250 crore linked to a town planning official in Hyderabad, Shiva Balakrishna, who served as the Secretary of Telangana State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TSRERA) and the former Director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
