Telangana’s welfare minister, Adluri Laxman Kumar, commended the state’s progressive welfare model at Chintan Shivir–2026, emphasizing its significance for other states. The event, hosted by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in Chandigarh, gathered officials to discuss social justice, welfare scheme effectiveness, and the holistic development of marginalized communities.
Minister Laxman Kumar highlighted Telangana’s governance approach under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, focusing on equity, empowerment, and dignity. He stressed the importance of improved coordination between the Center and states for advancing social justice, advocating for digital tools to enhance transparency in welfare delivery.
Describing the conclave as a valuable platform for policy convergence, the minister emphasized Telangana’s view of welfare as a long-term investment in human development. The state’s commitment to ensuring dignity for all citizens, providing opportunities for youth, and fostering family progress was reiterated.
Underlining the state’s emphasis on Dalit advancement, the minister mentioned the renaming of the Social Welfare Department to the SC Development Department. Education was highlighted as a key driver of social change, with significant investments in scholarships, overseas education support, and coaching programs for competitive exams.
