All Telugu tourists who were stranded on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island after a boat tragedy have safely arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, as confirmed by the Andhra Pradesh government. They are scheduled to depart from Hanoi at 7.05 p.m. local time via Vietnam Airlines and are expected to land in Hyderabad around 10 p.m. IST.
The Indian Embassy in Vietnam, along with the Andhra Pradesh government and Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi, are providing continuous consular, logistical, and repatriation support. Sadly, three individuals from Andhra Pradesh were among the 15 Indians who lost their lives in the accident that occurred during a leisure trip organized by a mobile phone company for the families of its Indian cell phone distributors.
During a leisure trip organized by a mobile phone company, a tourist boat carrying 32 passengers, including 15 Indians, encountered an accident near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. Tragically, 15 individuals lost their lives, while one person from Andhra Pradesh sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment in a Vietnamese hospital.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has overseen the assistance provided to the victims of the Vietnam boat accident and instructed officials to promptly arrange for the return of the victims to their respective hometowns. Officials have reported to the Chief Minister that Gelle Kishore, one of the injured individuals, is receiving treatment at a government hospital in Vietnam and is showing signs of improvement.
The Indian embassy in Vietnam has announced that the mortal remains of the 15 Indian nationals who lost their lives in the boat accident are being transported to Ho Chi Minh City and are expected to arrive there by evening. Following the necessary procedures in Ho Chi Minh City, the mortal remains will be repatriated to India at the earliest, with close coordination between the Embassy, Consulate teams, and Vietnamese authorities for the swift transportation of the mortal remains to India.
