Tension in Beldanga, West Bengal, following the return of a migrant worker’s body from Jharkhand has calmed down. Trinamool Congress’s Abhishek Banerjee contacted Jharkhand’s Chief Minister for legal action against the alleged killers. The Jharkhand Police is reportedly investigating the matter seriously.

Former West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited the deceased worker’s family and promised support. He plans to request an impartial investigation from the Jharkhand authorities. Rail and road blockades in Beldanga have been lifted, and local train services have resumed.

Murshidabad District Magistrate Nitin Singhania announced a job for a family member of the deceased worker. Financial compensation will also be provided to the family. A 24-hour control room has been set up for migrant workers from Murshidabad facing difficulties in other states.
