Tension flared in Chomu town, Rajasthan, as a disagreement over an iron railing near a mosque led to violent clashes between rioters and the police. The incident occurred near Chomu bus stand around 3 a.m., resulting in stone-pelting, injuries to multiple policemen, and the use of tear gas to restore order.
At least six policemen sustained injuries during the violence and were hospitalized, with most of them having head injuries but reported to be in stable condition. The clash stemmed from a dispute related to the removal of stones placed along the roadside near the mosque. A meeting held the previous evening between a specific community and the police administration aimed to resolve the issue peacefully, but tensions reignited when individuals started installing an iron railing near the mosque, prompting a violent response.
As the situation escalated, additional police forces from various stations were deployed to control the chaos. Police resorted to mild force and tear gas to disperse the crowd and prevent further violence. By morning, the authorities managed to bring the situation under control, conducting a flag march to reassure the public and maintain law and order.
Senior officials, including Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Rajiv Pachar and other key officers, arrived at the scene to oversee the situation and urged local residents to uphold peace and harmony. The area is now calm, with efforts underway to identify and take legal action against those involved in the stone-pelting incident.
