Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has initiated legal proceedings against around 30 North Texas businesses for suspected fraud and abuse related to the H-1B visa program. Paxton’s office has issued Civil Investigative Demands to these companies as part of an investigation into the alleged misuse of the program allowing US employers to hire foreign skilled workers. Among the companies under scrutiny are Tekpro IT LLC, Fame PBX LLC, 1st Ranking Technologies LLC, Qubitz Tech Systems LLC, Blooming Clouds LLC, Virat Solutions, Inc., Oak Technologies Inc, Techpath Inc, and Techquency LLC.
Authorities suspect these companies of employing fraudulent practices to exploit the H-1B visa system. Some of the firms are believed to have utilized “ghost offices” to falsely demonstrate active operations to sponsor foreign workers. Attorney General Paxton emphasized his commitment to preventing abuse of the H-1B program, stating that his office will continue efforts to uncover and eliminate fraud within the system. The Attorney General’s office has requested various documents from the businesses, including employee details, financial records, and internal communications related to their operations.
This action is part of a broader investigation into alleged H-1B abuse across Texas, as confirmed by officials. The Office of the Attorney General stressed that their proactive approach aims to ensure compliance with the law and prioritize American interests within the H-1B program. The H-1B visa program enables US companies to hire foreign workers for specialized roles, particularly in sectors like information technology, engineering, and finance. Despite its widespread use, the program has faced scrutiny due to concerns of misuse, leading authorities to enhance enforcement measures to uphold compliance and safeguard access to skilled labor.
