Thailand’s caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated in an interview that Thailand’s military has protested to Cambodia regarding an explosion in the border region that injured a Thai soldier. The 2nd Area Command of Thailand reported on social media that Cambodia breached the ceasefire agreement by firing a mortar round in the border area, causing harm to a Thai soldier. Anutin mentioned that Thailand has informed Cambodia through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the violation of the ceasefire declaration.

The Thai Prime Minister emphasized that Thailand is strictly following the ceasefire terms but is ready to handle any potential situations. Thai Army spokesperson Winthai Suvaree mentioned that Thailand has cautioned Cambodia to be careful and adhere strictly to ceasefire measures. Following the incident, the Cambodian side contacted the local Thai military unit, claiming that the explosion was accidental and not intentional during their operations.

In a separate incident on the same day, two Cambodian soldiers were injured due to an accidental explosion in a border area in Cambodia’s Preah Vihear province. Cambodian Defence Ministry’s Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata confirmed the incident and stated that both countries’ working teams have collaborated to address the issue. Cambodia’s Interior Ministry Spokesperson Touch Sokhak reported that 68.4% of Cambodian evacuees from a recent border conflict with Thailand have returned home, with around 444,179 out of 649,023 evacuees having gone back.
