Over 56,000 devotees have visited the holy cave in the initial three days of the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. On Sunday alone, more than 24,000 pilgrims from various parts of the country paid their respects at the cave. The total number of pilgrims who have visited the cave shrine since the yatra began has reached 56,961.
Reports indicate that pilgrims are flocking to the holy cave despite appeals from the administration to adhere to their scheduled darshan dates. The pilgrimage is being conducted through the traditional 48-km Pahalgam route and the shorter 14-km Baltal route. The Jammu and Kashmir administration has advised unregistered pilgrims to delay their journey due to fully booked registration slots until July 9.
A heavy influx of pilgrims has been observed in Jammu as well, with thousands arriving daily from different parts of the country. Long queues have been reported at registration and token distribution counters, with around 5,000 unregistered yatris being registered for future pilgrimage dates. The 57-day-long SANJY-2026 Yatra is set to conclude on Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals.
