Around 572,000 passengers have returned to India from the West Asia region. With the partial opening of Qatar airspace, 8–10 non-scheduled commercial flights are anticipated to operate to India on Tuesday. In the UAE, approximately 85 flights are expected to run throughout the day, while limited non-scheduled flights are ongoing based on operational and safety factors. Flights from Oman and Saudi Arabia to India are still in operation as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Kuwait and Bahrain airspaces remain closed, but special non-scheduled commercial flights are active from Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia to various Indian destinations. Due to airspace closure in Iran, travel for Indian nationals is being facilitated through Armenia and Azerbaijan. Similarly, due to airspace restrictions in Israel, Indian nationals are being assisted in traveling via Egypt and Jordan. In light of airspace closure in Iraq, Indian nationals are being supported in traveling through Jordan and Saudi Arabia, according to the ministry.
Continuous communication is maintained with the Indian community in the region to provide necessary assistance and issue safety advisories. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways reports that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe, with no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels reported in the past 24 hours. Currently, 18 Indian-flagged vessels with 485 Indian seafarers are in the western Persian Gulf region, with active monitoring by DG Shipping in collaboration with ship owners, RPSL agencies, and Indian Missions.
DG Shipping has facilitated the safe repatriation of over 959 Indian seafarers, including 9 in the last 24 hours. Port operations across India are running smoothly without congestion, with confirmation of normal functioning by the state maritime boards of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
