Over 12,000 Yatris visited the Amarnath cave shrine on the opening day of the 57-day Yatra. Chants of devotion filled the air as pilgrims paid their respects at the holy cave from the base camps of Baltal and Nunwan.
The weather in the cave area was partly cloudy with some drizzle, but the Yatra proceeded without disruption. After the darshan, pilgrims began their return journey to their respective base camps, with a steady flow of visitors throughout the day.
A third batch of more than 4,800 pilgrims departed from Jammu for the base camps of Nunwan and Baltal under tight security. Security measures have been intensified along the pilgrimage route and at the holy cave to ensure a safe and smooth Yatra.
Authorities have implemented strict security protocols at various points, including Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas and the Tawi riverfront. While pilgrims appreciate the arrangements by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and UT administration, some suggest increasing Tatkal registration counters due to the high influx of visitors.
