More than 31,000 police personnel are set to oversee the 149th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Ahmedabad on July 16. The procession will be closely monitored through 240 terrace observation points, 65 drones, and over 2,800 body-worn cameras to ensure a “zero-risk” security approach.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the security and civic arrangements for the upcoming Rath Yatra during a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar. He emphasized the need for peaceful and safe conduct of the procession, along with around 230 Rath Yatras scheduled across Gujarat, including six mini Rath Yatras in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut highlighted the comprehensive security measures being implemented for the event. The city police are working diligently to ensure a peaceful procession, with the deployment of more than 31,000 police personnel, supported by various surveillance tools like drones and body-worn cameras.
The Rath Yatra, covering a 16-km route, will involve 101 trucks, 30 akhadas, and 18 bhajan mandalis. To maintain communal harmony, Ahmedabad Police have organized multiple Peace Committee meetings, Mohalla Committee meetings, and interactions with religious leaders from different communities. Additionally, various community-building activities like blood donation camps and cultural programs have been arranged.
