More than 3,500 visitors have explored the newly established Tropic of Cancer Science Park in Sabarkantha district, Gujarat, within two months of its opening. The park, developed by GUJCOST under the state government, aims to enhance scientific awareness, especially among students, by highlighting the significance of the Tropic of Cancer passing through the region.
Costing Rs 8 crore and spanning 5,930 square meters, the park offers interactive exhibits and educational resources to help visitors understand Earth-Sun dynamics, seasonal changes, and the importance of the Tropic of Cancer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on promoting scientific thinking has also influenced the park’s mission to engage students and tourists in scientific exploration.
Designed as an educational and research hub, the park features outdoor displays, astronomical structures, and facilities for visitors to learn about sundials, axial tilt effects on seasons, and the Sun’s movements. It serves as a unique platform for hands-on scientific learning, attracting individuals interested in science tourism and environmental education.
Officials envision the park not only as a tourist destination but also as a science laboratory for students and teachers to explore scientific concepts in a practical setting. By offering insights into the Tropic of Cancer’s geographical significance and scientific relevance, the park aims to foster scientific curiosity and innovation-driven engagement in Gujarat.
