The Karnataka Police have apprehended three individuals linked to the killing of a recently wedded man following a dispute in a bar in Maddur taluk of Mandya district. The suspects, identified as Nishanth, Karthik, and Ravi, have been placed in judicial custody as the investigation progresses, as per Mandya Superintendent of Police V.J. Shobharani. The tragic incident occurred on May 19 at K. Honnalagere village, where Sunil, aged 29 and married six months ago, was fatally attacked after a confrontation that originated in the bar.
Nishanth, one of the arrested individuals, had allegedly borrowed Rs 5 lakh from a person named Ashok, who had been pressuring him for repayment. Reports suggest that Nishanth had carried a long stick in his car to confront Ashok. On the day of the incident, Nishanth, under the influence of alcohol at Deepa Bar, engaged in a heated exchange with Sunil and his companions, leading to a verbal dispute. Despite initial intervention to separate the groups, the altercation escalated outside the bar, resulting in a physical altercation where Sunil was fatally assaulted.
Following the violent episode, the accused fled the scene, prompting the Mandya SP to form a special team to track them down. Subsequently, the three suspects were apprehended and presented before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody for further legal proceedings.
