Three Bangladeshi individuals, including a woman, were captured by police in Assam’s Cachar district for allegedly entering India unlawfully. The apprehension took place during a routine check at the Gumrah police outpost under Katigorah police station. The detainees, identified as Mohammad Awal, Reena Akhtar, and Mohammad Harun, are suspected to have crossed the border without proper documents.

Authorities acted on specific information about suspected illegal migrants in the Katigorah area. The trio was unable to provide valid Indian identity papers or legal documents permitting their stay in the country. It is believed that they might have entered Assam through an unprotected stretch along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The detained individuals are being interrogated to determine their entry route, potential local connections, and any involvement of organized networks. Legal actions have been initiated against them under the Foreigners Act and Passport Act. Security measures in Assam, especially in bordering districts, have been heightened to combat illegal infiltration.
