Three coaches of the Ujjain Express derailed near the Yog Nagari Railway Station in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board during the incident. The derailment occurred during shunting operations at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.
Restoration work is currently ongoing at the site where the incident took place. Local officials mentioned that the train derailed while undergoing maintenance. A police team from the Kotwali station also responded to the scene.
Residents in the vicinity reported hearing a loud noise at the time of the accident, prompting them to evacuate their homes and shops. Railway personnel quickly cleared the area and halted all track movements. Initial investigations suggest a technical glitch or human error during shunting as the possible causes, although railway authorities have not confirmed this.
