A Special NDPS Court in Ahmedabad has handed down 10-year prison terms to three individuals involved in smuggling charas across state borders. The convicted individuals, Shahidbhai Ibrahimbhai Maniyar, Rafik Dilawar Chauhan, and Maniyar Saiyedhussain Hasamiya, were found guilty under the NDPS Act, 1985. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) reported that the trio was apprehended by NCB officers in Mehsana with 9.330 kg of charas in their possession.
Following a thorough investigation, the accused were charged under various sections of the NDPS Act, 1985, and brought before the Special NDPS Court in Mehsana. After the trial, all three were convicted and sentenced to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment. Shahidbhai Ibrahimbhai Maniyar and Rafik Dilawar Chauhan were fined Rs 1.50 lakh each, while Maniyar Saiyedhussain Hasamiya was fined Rs 1 lakh for their involvement in the crime.
The NCB emphasized that this conviction underscores a strong stance against drug trafficking, highlighting the unwavering commitment to combatting such illegal activities. The agency praised the investigative efforts of the NCB Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, ensuring that justice is served and communities are safeguarded from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
