The police in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, have detained three individuals for allegedly assaulting BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani during a meeting at Bihani College. The altercation arose during discussions on the city’s drinking water crisis, leading to physical confrontation between the MLA and officials present.

MLA Bihani reported that the dispute escalated when he questioned the officials’ commitment to public welfare, resulting in alleged physical assault by the Assistant Engineer, Jagannath Bairwa. The police intervened, taking the three officials into custody, with an FIR being filed against them by the MLA.

Following the incident, Jawahar Nagar Police detained the accused for questioning, confirming ongoing investigations into the matter. The assault has stirred political outrage, prompting concerns over official accountability in public projects and sparking administrative reviews.
