At least three individuals, including a woman, lost their lives in an assault on a tribal-inhabited village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. The attack, carried out by unidentified armed assailants, led to a clash with another armed group, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire lasting nearly half an hour.
The deceased victims have been identified as Letkhongam Haokip, his wife Tinmary Haokip, and Jangminlal Haokip. Following the violent incident, terrified residents fled their homes, seeking refuge in nearby forested areas to evade the conflict.
In the aftermath of the attack, seven houses were destroyed by fire, and significant damage was inflicted on civilian properties within the village. Security forces, accompanied by senior officials, swiftly mobilized to the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
