Three individuals lost their lives, and seven others sustained injuries in a tragic incident when an RTC bus crashed into a stationary lorry at Gajuwaka near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The collision involving a bus from Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) occurred early Sunday morning near Srinagar. Among the casualties were two women and the bus driver, while the injured have been taken to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam.
The ill-fated bus was en route from Rajamahendravam to Ramabhadrapuram in Vizianagaram district with 30 passengers on board. Prompted by bystanders, Gajuwaka police responded swiftly to the scene, providing aid to the injured and initiating an investigation into the matter. State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the RTC bus accident at Gajuwaka, extending condolences to the families of the deceased.
Minister Reddy visited KGH Hospital to offer support to the affected families and check on the injured individuals. He announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each deceased person’s family and ensured that the injured receive top-notch medical attention. Accompanied by MLA and TDP State President Palla Srinivas, District Collector Abhishek, and other officials, the minister pledged government and RTC support to the affected families during this challenging period.
The transport minister instructed officials to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the accident’s root causes and present a detailed report. In a separate incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district, two RTC buses collided head-on near Aravidu in Galiveedu Mandal, resulting in injuries to four individuals, including the driver. The injured parties were promptly taken to a hospital in Galiveedu.
