Three laborers tragically lost their lives in an accident in Rajhara town, Balod district, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred during a project to install pipes for the Bhilai Steel Plant sewerage line near “Das Pan Thela Chowk.” The victims, working in a trench around 10 feet deep, were buried alive due to a sudden landslide that caused the surrounding earth to collapse on them.

The impact of the collapsing debris was fatal, leading to the immediate death of all three individuals before any assistance could reach them, as confirmed by police officials. The deceased have been identified as Kishun Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, and a female laborer named Baishakhin. While another laborer is believed to be trapped under debris, this has not been officially verified yet.

The local community and nearby residents were deeply affected by the tragic incident, prompting a swift response from the local police and municipal authorities to conduct a rescue operation. Specialized teams were deployed to clear the fallen soil and retrieve the bodies from the pit for further legal procedures and post-mortem examinations. Authorities are set to provide financial aid to the families of the deceased and investigate the safety measures in place at the site to prevent such accidents.

Work on the sewerage line project has been halted temporarily following the accident to ensure a thorough review of safety protocols and procedures.
