The incident took place near the Berkhedi crossing close to Chaubaradhara, within the Pipalrava police station’s jurisdiction. A mini truck carrying a heavy load of onions overturned while en route from Gandharvapuri to Chaubaradhara, resulting in the casualties.
According to police officials, the accident occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. Five labourers were atop the onion sacks when the truck overturned, leading to the unfortunate outcome. Initial investigations suggest that the driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control at a sharp turn and overturn.
Following the crash, the victims were trapped under the vehicle and the scattered cargo. Upon notification, teams from the Pipalrava police station, with the help of local residents, rescued the victims from the wreckage. The injured were promptly taken to the Civil Hospital in Sonkachh for urgent medical attention.
Authorities at the Sonkachh Civil Hospital confirmed the tragic deaths of three labourers upon their arrival. The deceased individuals were identified as Omprakash Malviya, Akash Bagania, and Vijay Malviya, all residents of Balon village. The driver and the cleaner of the mini truck, who suffered severe injuries, are currently receiving intensive medical care at a private healthcare facility in Sonkachh.
A case has been registered by the Pipalrava police, who have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Additionally, a post-mortem examination of the deceased is underway, and efforts are being made to clear the highway for normal traffic flow.
